Sometimes we're not as invincible or as strong as we had thought. Something sinks our ship despite doing everything we possibly could. An unforseen attack from an invisible force. We sink below the surface of understanding and purpose, and into the depths of loss and confusion. "It happens", they say. But why? Perhaps part of our growth is to sink below, to release and trust in our lasting breath, and not squander in frustration or fear of incoming darkness. Beneath the surface can be darker, colder, less solid and secure..but perhaps in sinking below we see what lies above from a lesser known vantage point, the value of extending our roots instead of our branches for a while, a time to rest and release until ready to set sail back into those ever changing, sometimes challenging, but always beautiful seas of life. Always a reason, just sometimes a greater challenge to see.
